Pip Pietromonaco and Conor Nicholas have sailed a terrific regatta to take out the Nacra 17 C-board class at the European Championships in Kiel, Germany.
As the Nacra class transitions to foiling, there was only one of the new foiling models availoable for the Australian team for this regatta. Understandably that boat was taken by Rio Olympic medallists Jason Waterhouse and Lisa Darmanin. With Waterhouse battling injury, the top Australian crew took 12th place in the foiling fleet.
For the other 3 Nacra crews in the Australian sailing team, the competition was still fierce in the non-foiling Nacra fleet. Pip and Conor sailed consistently well with 9 top 3 finishes in the 12 race series to take out the regatta by 8 points from compatriots Paul Darmanin and Lucy Copeland with the final Aussie crew of Tayla Rietman and Lachlan White in 10th position overall.
